HEAD BAND DIRECTOR
Mr. Aaron Allison
Mr. Allison was born in
1979 at the Naval Regional Medical Center in Charleston, South Carolina. As the
son of a U.S. Navy Officer, Mr. Allison spent his younger years up and down the
east coast and two terms living on the island of Puerto Rico.
His musical career
started in the 6th grade while living in Puerto Rico for the second
time. From there the family moved to Maryland where he spent 8th-12th
grade at Leonardtown High School. He graduated from Kansas State University in
2002 with a Bachelors in Music Education All Levels.
After college, Mr. Allison became the Director of Instrumental Music at Golden
High School in Golden, Colorado. There he directed the Symphonic Band, Jazz
Band, Orchestra, Guitar and assisted with the Color Guard and Percussion
Ensemble. While there his groups received consistent Superior ratings and under
his direction the Percussion Ensemble competed at WGI Percussion finals in San
Diego, CA.
After three years in
Colorado, he was chosen to be the Assistant Director here at Channelview High
School in 2005. After one year he became the Head Director of the program.
Mr. Allison is a member
of Texas Music Educators Association and the Texas Band Masters. He lives with
his wife, Erin, and their new son Macklen.
ASSISTANT BAND DIRECTOR
Mr. David
Maddox
Mr. Maddox was born in 1977 in
Dallas, Texas. He comes to us from Mineral Wells HS where he served in a
similar position for the past three years. Prior to his appointment in Mineral
Wells, he served as an Associate Director at Midlothian High School for two
years. He will be conducting the Symphonic Band, and team teaching the Wind
Ensemble, Concert Band, Marching Band and Jazz Band.
Mr. Maddox attended Poteet High
School in Mesquite, Texas where he played saxophone in the Poteet Honors Band
all four years. While at Poteet, the Honors Band received consistent Division
One Ratings at UIL Concert and Sight-reading Contest as well as the Marching
Band receiving ones at UIL Region Marching and placing within the top 5 4A Bands
at the UIL State Marching Contest three times. Mr. Maddox was also named to the
TMEA Region III, All-Region Band every year during his high school career.
During his junior year, Mr. Maddox was an auditioned member of the TMEA 5A
All-State Symphonic Band under the direction of the late Frederick Fennell.
Mr. Maddox attended The University
of North Texas performing with the Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Marching Band
and most notably the Wind Symphony. After an invitation to audition as a second
semester sophomore, He continued to hold his position in the prestigious Wind
Symphony under the direction of Eugene Corporon until his graduation. He holds
the Bachelor of Music Education Degree from The University of North Texas and
has plans to pursue a Master of Music Education degree from the University of
Houston.
Over the past two and a half years,
Mr. Maddox has had the privilege of performing with the Greater Fort Worth
Community Band. The Band is the vision of retired Director of Fine Arts for the
Birdville Independent School District Henry Schraub and retired band director
Dee Tucker. The band had its beginnings in the Spring of 2005, with only a
handful of members growing to a fully staffed ensemble comprised of area band
directors, private teachers and people in non-music occupations. The band was
invited to play at the 2007 Texas Bandmasters Association Convention in San
Antonio, Texas of which Mr. Maddox had the opportunity to be a part of.
Mr. Maddox is an active member of
the Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, Music
Educators National Conference and North American Saxophone Alliance.
AJJH HEAD BAND DIRECTOR
Ms. Jennifer
Snyder
Ms. Snyder was born in
Galveston Texas. She graduated high school in Huffman Texas where she lived for
most of her childhood. After high school Ms. Snyder attended Southwest Texas
State University (currently known as Texas State University) in San Marcos. She
graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree for Music Education All Levels in
May 2001.
Ms. Snyder’s first job was as the Head Band
Director for Tarkington ISD. Tarkington is a 3A high school close to east Texas.
She spent 5 years in Tarkington building the program from 30 members in the high
school band to 70.
After leaving Tarkington,
Ms. Snyder joined us here in Channelview as the High School Assistant Director.
She held that position for one year and is currently the Head Director at Alice
Johnson Junior High.

Ms. Amanda
Tubbs
Ms. Tubbs was raised her entire life in the rural
town of Huffman Texas, located just northeast of Houston. She grew up around a
very musical extended family and was always encouraged to participate in music
activities, beginning with the 3rd grade choir. She decided she wanted to be a
band director in the 6th grade after becoming the first chair flute player in
the beginner band.
Ms. Tubbs was an all region and area musician from 7th through 12th
grades. She also played alto, tenor, and bari saxophone in the jazz band, and
was a drum major her junior and senior years, which included her school's first
ever trip to the UIL State Marching contest. She is a graduate of Hargrave High
School in Huffman.
Ms. Tubbs holds a Bachelor's of Music from Houston Baptist University
where she majored in music education. She was the principal flutist in the HBU
band for four years, and also participated in the pep band. She was the
president of the HBU Band during her senior year.
Aside from several short-term teaching
experiences, this is Ms. Tubbs' first year as a full time teacher. In October,
she will be getting married and will be changing her last name to Mrs. Tietjen
(pronounced TEE-jin). She is very excited to be a part of the band program in
Channelview and hopes to see lots of outstanding progress in the upcoming year.

Mr. Alan Isaac
Mr. Isaac is a student at San Jacinto College North. He has been playing drums
and percussion for 7 years. He was a member of the 2005 Texas All State Band.
He has taught for camps at San Jacinto North and the Houston Percussion Center.
He is a music major and hopes to obtain a degree in Jazz Studies.
